What Is the Actual Problem?
THE MISUNDERSTANDING!
#Right from the days we were kids, there have been complaining about the situation of things in the state of the nation. Our fathers were complaining about the same problems, difficulties, lack of good governance, hatred, ethnicity violence, religious differences, bribery and corruption, nepotism, insecurity, looting, lack of development, deprivation or impoverishment, that is hardship, political greediness, discrimination, and many more than we can say or write about.
#Never forgetting that our fathers started complaining a whole lot of deficiencies in government or the governance system of the country right from when they were kids till their adult age. It is unfortunate that they are still complaining that same thing, problems which has been a bothering syndrome to the states of the nation. Their generation is tired of the situation.
#Our generation came up and met this same system of governance that has decided not to listen to her dearest and fellow citizens of the country. And as such, it will be a mistake and unfortunate thing to leave this same system that has misunderstood our fathers to fail us by not standing up against lack of good governance, corruption and evil political destruction. Despite all their (our fathers) effort to see that these unscrupulous attitude stopes and bring betterment in the country, nothing happened as such as expected. To the extent that their children came and witness humiliation and frustration the government or the political elites have brought upon the citizens of the nation.
Presently, this generation has witnessed the effects of this same bad governance and are trying to see to an end of the frustration, intimidation, corruption, inequality, in the nation. And to bring peace, love, unity, good governance which will bring evidence of good living in the country, restore hope the citizens, freedom as a human being, respect, freedom from armed intimidation and police violence, fairness and dignity to the country as a unitary state.
Now, a question to our fathers, that is, the generation before us is, will you allow us to keep complaining about this same issue, humiliation and frustration until we get to your age or will you keep complaining on bad governance until you see your grand and great grandchildren? To the present generation, should we allow the attitude of this governmental deficiencies, hypocrisy continue till we meet our second generation and allow the upcoming generation to suffer more than we have done? We all believe that the generation after us have started witnessing the failure, hatred and lack of good governance the elites have brought upon the nation. Should they continue to complain which they have started until they get to our ages or that of our father’s ages? You see, the fact is that everyone is tired of the situation of things in the country, tired of the system of governance which is frustrating.
It is high time we came together to see that this impunity and humiliation come to an end. Let everyone stand up for what is right and ensure good governance, eliminate corruption and frustration in the land, and embrace the better future.
What to do in order to ensure a better and secured Nigeria? According to our discussion and interaction with the citizens/countrymen, we came across the very best way to see that the country or nation is rebuilt and ensure she greatness. Which includes;
If actually, we want to still remain as one entity which some countrymen doubt or do not see as possible, we need total overhauling in every facets. This is what is generally known as Restructuring. Restructuring in politics, socially, economically and religiously.
Firstly, we need to make governance less financially attractive. Every political office holder should be placed on moderate salary scale as that of the civil servants. By doing so, only those who are willing to serve would via into those offices or positions.
Secondly, we have to allow states to control their resources and pay a certain royalty to the central/federal. This will surely help in development, and states building across the country. Let there be a developmental competition amongst states across the country so as to know the states which are not making proper use of their allocations or resources.
Thirdly, electronic voting should be the way to go in order to ensure that everyone’s vote counts and certainly have a well secured system for such. Following how elections are been conducted in this country, simply shows that the body in charge of the electoral processes is not independent (of and on its own; uninterrupted) at all so as to ensure a credible election across the states of the nation. And as such, the reaction from this very action have demoralized the citizens in exercising their civic right of electing the representatives in different political offices. Therefore, this hope on the core values of the nation needs to be restored and protected so as to ensure good leadership in governance. Fourthly, withdrawal of certain powers from the president including the veto power. And return power to the people which is, the citizens. As the democracy clearly stated, that is, a power belonging to the people, should be given to them as a people and not taken from the people! There should be evidence of #democracy in the #system of #leadership of any gotten nation practicing such demo and not otherwise.
It is high time the citizens experienced good and emulating #governance in this nation or country, Nigeria! Likewise, the leaders are demanded to maintain unity, assuring fellow #citizens in work and by #faith, believing in the nation to be great again; #peace to be her most valued asset and to witness progress in her #livelihood!–
