What A Great Day it is!
On a beautiful Saturday night, welcoming the sister which is to be Sunday, I lay on my bed exhausted from the day’s work. Earlier that day, I had done lots of house chores, thereafter, helped my mum to sell items to customers in the small supermarket in front of our house.
Tired and at the same time relieved, I quickly said my night prayer, thanking God for his goodness in my life and then I drifted off to a beautiful sleep.
I must have slept for over 5 good hours or thereabout when I heard sounds. At first, the voice seemed to be coming from a distant place, but then I felt that was my mum’s voice. I opened my eyes gently and saw rays of golden sun penetrating through the crack behind the window in my room, indicating the dawn of a new day.
I quickly turned over and knelt down to pray to God for helping me to wake up in sound health and mind. I felt so good after praying. “This is a sign of a good day” I said to myself, smiling.
And just then, I heard the sound again, this time around, it was loud and clear. I listened carefully, offcourse, ’twas my mum’s voice. I couldn’t decipher if she was singing or making a recitation but I was very sure that it was shouts of joy and jubilation.
I was curious to know what exactly was going on, so I quickly got up from bed, brushed my teeth, drank a cup of water and tiptoed to the passage adjacent to my parents room. And then I saw my parents jumping around the room like little children and obviously rejoicing. I tried to hide so they would not see me, but my dad already saw me with his “engineering eyes”. Come here BLESSED, he called out to me and I walked over like a meek lamb. My mum rushed over and gave me a warm hug. “Guess what?” She said with a voice laden with excitement. “Oh mum, just tell me already” I said, “you know I’m not good at making guesses” “Come on, BLESSED, just make a guess” my Dad said. “Oh okay…. Dad bought a new car?” I asked, and my parents bursted out with laughter.
Then mum said, your Dad just checked his email this morning and we realized that the family company just got awarded of a contract of about 50million Euros. “What?” I screamed with joy! “50million Euros?” I couldn’t believe it either. “This is good news mum” I shouted. “Off course it calls for celebration” Dad said. And right that minute, I knew in my mind that, this is MY START TO A GREAT DAY! A loving and beautiful day it is to me.
